Drilon to Panelo on Aquino infra projects: ‘This is not a pissing contest’

MANILA, Philippines — “Hindi po nagpapataasan ng ihi dito.”

(This is not a pissing contest)

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon said this on Thursday as he refuted the remarks of Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo that “not a single infrastructure was made” during the previous administration.

“Nakakalungkot po yung mga argumento na ‘Ano nagawa niyo?’ Unang-una mali. Pangalawa hindi ‘yan ang solusyon, hindi po nagpapataasan ng ihi dito, ika nga,”Drilon said in an interview with dzMM.

(Arguments such as asking what did you do,  is saddening. First of all, that’s wrong. Secondly,  it’s not the solution. We’re not in a pissing contest).

This comes after the minority leader slammed as a “dismal failure” the current administration’s “Build, Build, Build” project because only nine out of its 75 flagship projects have started actual construction halfway through President Rodrigo Duterte’s term.

“May mga data po at reports sa DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways) mismo na nagpapakita kung ano ang nagawa ng nakaraang administrasyon,” he went on.

(There are data and reports from the DPWH itself that would show what the accomplishments of the previous administration).

According to Drilon, the previous administration was able to construct and complete thousands of road and flood control projects.

“Halimabawa on roads, on bridges. Ayan po naka-record lahat yan,” he said.

(For example on roads and bridges. They are all on record)

Drilon said that 18,547 kilometers of  national roads and 107,579 linear meters of bridges were constructed and were improved.

Over 12,000 flood control projects were also completed during the previous administration, the senator added.

“Ang debate po ay dapat we must keep it on the level para makakatulong sa ating pamamahala, hindi po yung mga ganun klaseng (argumento),” Drilon went on.
