Comm. Greco Belgica leads manifesto of support for government anti-corruption drive

MANILA, Philippines — In an effort to forge a stronger partnership between government agencies and to renew their commitment in weeding out corruption in the bureaucracy, Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Greco Belgica led the signing of the manifesto of support to the anti-corruption drive of the government.

“The President means business when it comes to stomping out corruption. We are committed to follow his lead,” Belgica said.

The manifesto of support declares that the signatories shall “free themselves from corruption  activities, combat corruption in their own districts and offices, cooperate with the government in combatting corruption, remain loyal to their oaths of office, inform the government through the PACC of all corrupt activities that come to their knowledge, provided that they are accorded anonymity; if necessary, set up Katarungan Desks in their area of jurisdiction.” The manifesto further provides that failure of the signatories to fulfill the abovementioned manifesto shall mean their voluntary resignation from their respective offices.

The said manifesto was signed by Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Commissioner Belgica, Secretary Silvestre Bello of DOLE, Court Administrator Justice Midas Marquez, Director General Isidro Lapeña of the TESDA, acting Philippine National Police chief Atty. Archie Gamboa, Usec. Waldo Carpio, DILG Usec. Densing, Pasay Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, and other high-ranking government officials.

During the event, Belgica also introduced the Katarungan Desk, a responsive and safe platform for reporting all kinds of complaints regarding corruption and public order.

“We are receiving an increasing number of complaints. That’s very encouraging. I am very humbled by the people’s trust in our work. It also shows that they are becoming more aware of the problem of corruption and are willing to help. That’s a big step forward,” Belgica said.

“Injustice such as corruption reinforce each other, creating a vicious cycle that corrodes the fabric of society. It undermines people’s trust in political and economic systems, institutions and leaders. Corruption is Injustice,” Belgica added.
