KIDAPAWAN CITY –– Three persons, including a Grade 7 student, were injured when a fragmentation grenade exploded during a birthday party in Aleosan town, Cotabato Monday afternoon.

Captain Arvin John Cambang, Aleosan police chief, said the explosion took place in Purok 4, Barangay Bagolibas around 5 p.m. at the height of a revelry.

Suspects aboard a motorcycle lobbed the grenade into the house where a birthday party was being held.

Visitors scampered for safety upon seeing the grenade thrown into the house, Cambang said.

He identified the victims as Eleuterio Cantomayor, 64, Randy Cantomayor, 44, and a minor, who suffered multiple shrapnel wounds in various parts of their bodies.

The three were brought to the nearby Alamada District Hospital for treatment.

Cambang said investigators were still trying to establish the motive behind the attack. /lzb
