DLSU Manila suspends classes, work from Dec. 2 to 7 for upcoming SEA Games

MANILA, Philippines — Classes and work at De La Salle University (DLSU)-Manila campus are suspended from Dec. 2 to 7 to make way for the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the university administration announced Tuesday.

In a tweet from DLSU’s official student publication The LaSallian, it read that the University’s Office of the Chancellor announcing the suspension of classes, which will be in line for the activities directly connected to the SEA Games.

“Access to the campus will likewise be restricted,” the tweet read.

The 30th SEA Games, where the Philippines is host country, will be held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said it has expected that athletes, sports officials, and coaches will flock to sports and non-sports venues in Metro Manila during the 12-day event.

Such venues to be used include the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Cuneta Astrodome, SM Mall of Asia Arena, SM Mall of Asia Skating Rink, World Trade Center, Philippine International Convention Center Forum, SM Megamall, Filoil Flying V Centre, Filinvest City, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Gym, Marine Corps, Muntinlupa Sports Complex, Starmall EDSA, Makati Coliseum, Manila Hotel tent, SM Megamall Ice Rink, World Trade Center, Philsports Arena, Amoranto Sports Complex and Manila Polo Club.

It is also the SEA Games that the MMDA will implement a stop-and-go traffic scheme along Edsa. /jpv
