MANILA, Philippines — The two at large suspects in the killing of a radio broadcaster in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental may surrender to authorities, police said Tuesday.
Lt. Col. Wilfredo Alarcon Jr., Dumaguete City police chief, said he received reports that Cpl. Roger Rubio of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company and alleged gambling lord Tomacino Aledro may surrender amid pursuit operations against them.
“Allegedly magsusurrender din daw ‘yung dalawa, pero hindi po sa amin (The two will allegedly surrender, but not to the police),” he said in an interview with INQUIRER.net.
He said the police have yet to confirm this information.
Investigation showed that Rubio is the alleged hitman while Aledro is the owner of the Mitsubishi Strada pick-up used in the ambush of Dindo Generoso, who was reportedly a hard-hitting radio broadcaster.

He also refused to confirm reports that the mastermind in the ambush is a local politician, saying that police need sufficient proof first before making this allegation.
He said the investigation is currently focused on the two at large suspects and their two cohorts earlier arrested, a certain Teddy Reyes Salaw, the driver of the Mitsubishi Strada pick-up who allegedly acted as the spotter, and Glenn Corsame, a retired policeman and the alleged driver of the motorcycle used in the ambush.

Alarcon said murder cases were filed against Salaw and Corsame on Friday, while the case was filed against Rubio and Aledro on Monday.
Police are eyeing three angles in the killing: the victim’s work in the media, politics, and land dispute. Brig. Gen. Valeriano De Leon, Central Visayas police chief, suspects the murder could be highly-related to Generoso’s profession. / muf
