MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 4.0 earthquake rocked Eastern Samar on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The quake struck at 2:47 a.m. 83 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Guiuan.
The tremor, Phivolcs said, was of tectonic origin and had a 17-kilometer depth of focus.
No aftershocks and damage are expected, Phivolcs added. /gsg
