Pagasa: LPA may intensify into a storm on Tuesday or WednesdayMANILA, Philippines — The low-pressure area east of Catanduanes may develop into a storm on Tuesday or Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported Monday.

The state weather bureau said as of 3 p.m., the LPA was spotted 1,025 kilometers east of Virac in Catanduanes.

Pagasa said the LPA’s trough would bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers in the Visayas, Bicol region, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao region, as well as the provinces of Quezon, Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

The northeast monsoon, meanwhile, will bring cloudy skies with weak rain showers in Ilocos Region, Cordillera, Cagayan Valley, and Central Luzon.

Fair to partly cloudy weather is expected over the rest of the country, including Metro Manila, with the possibility of thunderstorms in the evening.

Gale warning is also raised over Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, Aurora, Camarines provinces, Catanduanes, eastern coast of Albay, eastern coast of Sorsogon, eastern coast of Quezon, and Polilio Islands.
