CIDG nabs Indian ‘leader’ of robbery group in Rizal

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) has arrested an Indian national, allegedly the leader of a robbery group, for alleged illegal possession of ammunition.

The CIDG on Monday identified the suspect as Patbhjot Garye Singh alias Gurjeet Singh, who was arrested while being served a search warrant at about 2:30 p.m. Friday in Barangay San Carlos in Binangonan, Rizal.

Allegedly confiscated from him were a magazine, 16 rounds of ammunition, and a plastic ammunition box for a .45-caliber pistol, his passport, and an identification card.

According to CIDG, the suspect is the leader of the Singh Criminal Group involved in robbery, victimizing other Indian nationals engaged in lending in Rizal and nearby provinces.

A case for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act was filed against the suspect.
