Woman killed as truck trailer falls on SUV in Batangas
SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna, Philippines — A woman died while a man was injured in a road accident involving a truck and a sports utility vehicle in Lipa City in Batangas province, police said.
The police on Sunday identified the fatality as a Gem Navarro.
Navarro was aboard a Mitsubishi Montero driven by Orestes Orense, who remained in a hospital for treatment. It was not immediately clear how the two were related.
According to the Batangas police, the accident happened past midnight Saturday in Barangay Tambo.
The SUV tried to overtake the trailer truck, driven by Arnel Alaban when the truck lost its control and veered off the highway.
The truck crashed into a post and its trailer got detached, falling over the SUV.
The police had arrested Alaban.
