Fisher gunned down in Puerto Princesa City

CITY OF CALAPAN – A fisherman was shot and killed in Puerto Princesa City in Palawan province on Friday, police said.

Lt. Col. Socrates Faltado, Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) police information officer, said suspect Glenn Ibarra, 47, was on a drinking spree at a nipa hut on the seashore with Reynaldo Baculinao and his father Ricardo Baculinao Sr., owner of the hut.

Bobby Molina, 45, whose motorized boat was docked on the shore, was called by Ricardo to buy fish at around 4:30 p.m. in Purok (zone) Kapalaran, Barangay (village) Luzviminda.

After delivering the fish, Molina was returning to his boat when Ibarra, “without any justifying reason shot the victim several times hitting his head and other parts of the body,” killing him instantly, Faltado said.

Police said the motive was yet to be determined.

Ibarra, who was an operation and maintenance technician of the National Power Corporation, was arrested by police.

Recovered from the scene were one blue sling bag containing a caliber .45 pistol loaded with 9 live bullets and another four live ammunition.
