The House of Representatives on Thursday paid tribute to a veteran lawmaker, LPGMA party list Rep. Rodolfo Albano, Jr., who died on Tuesday of a heart attack. He was 85.
Albano’s remains were brought on Thursday morning to the plenary hall of Batasang Pambansa where lawmakers held a necrological service to honor him.
A day earlier, the lawmakers adopted a resolution, conveying their “profound condolences” to his family.
Albano finished law at Manuel L. Quezon University in 1958. He first worked as secretary to his father, who was a member of the House of Representatives from 1957 to 1959.
His political career began in 1960 when he was elected Isabela vice governor until 1964.
He was appointed presiding judge of the Circuit Criminal Court XVI in Davao City from 1975 to 1978.
Albano represented his province in the Interim Batasang Pambansa from 1978 to 1984 during the Marcos dictatorship and was elected to the House where he served from 1987 to 1998 and again from 2001 to 2004.

He took a break from lawmaking and served as chair of the Energy Regulatory Commission from 2004 to 2008.
He returned to the House in 2010, serving until 2013 and was elected that year as mayor of his hometown of Cabagan where he served one term. He came back to the House as representative of the LPGMA, which won a seat in the May 2019 interim polls.
Albano’s remains will be brought to the family residence in Cabagan on Saturday.
Albano was married to the late Josefina Taguinod-Albano. He is survived by their children Rodolfo lll, the incumbent governor of Isabela; Mari Sol Albano-Fernandez; Emmanuel; Mila Albano-Mamauag; Antonio “Tonypet”, the incumbent representative of the First District of Isabela; and Dr. Lourdes Martina Albano-Africa.
