MANILA, Philippines — A total of 22,573 applicants are set to take the Philippine National Police Academy Cadet Admission Test (PNPACAT) this year to possibly be part of the police force and the jail and fire bureaus.
PNPA director Brig. Gen. Chiquito Malayo said this was a 54-percent increase compared to 12,301 applicants in 2018, which he attributed to the online application implemented for this year’s examination.
“Online application was a major breakthrough in the PNPA application system. It was an innovation applied only for this year and it was proven to be very effective as the youth of today are more and more inclined in the use of gadgets and the internet,” he said in a statement.
According to Malayo, the online application catered to applicants starting July 1 until September 30.
The applicants are set to take the admission exam in 31 test centers nationwide at 6 a.m. on Sunday.
After passing the examination, the cadet aspirants still have to undergo medical, neuro-psychiatric, and physical agility tests before being finally accepted to the academy, said Lt. Col. Byron Allatog, PNPA spokesperson.
Once admitted to the academy as plebes or freshmen, they will enjoy full benefits as scholars of the government and will receive P38,000 monthly training allowance equivalent to the salary of a Police Executive Master Sergeant. They will be conferred the degree of Bachelor of Science in Public Safety once they graduate. /je
