Inmate injured in attack of Samar jail guard

TACLOBAN CITY –– An inmate of the Samar Provincial Jail based in Catbalogan City was wounded after he attacked a jail guard on Thursday morning.

Francis Grey, who has been in jail since last year due to a murder charge, reportedly attacked provincial guard Angelo Figueroa.

Grey and Figueroa grappled for a gun, which went off and hit the inmate in the stomach.

Grey, son of former mayor Joseph Grey of San Jorge town in Samar, was immediately brought to Samar Provincial Hospital for treatment and is now in a stable condition.
