MANILA, Philippines — A total of 55 private lying-in clinics in Quezon City have been awarded with a Seal of Excellence for being fully compliant with standards set by the Department of Health and local government.
Mayor Joy Belmonte commended the awardees and their partners from the public and private sectors for their commitment to helping the city achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly cutting the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030.
She said that the city’s ratio was now at 50, one of the lowest among local government units.
Among its private partners is pharmaceutical and healthcare company Unilab Inc. which wants to ensure the high quality of healthcare for residents.
“The Seal of Excellence is a joint undertaking of the Quezon City Health Department and Unilab as part of the long-term advocacy on maternal and child health,” said Claire Papa, its head for external affairs and social partnerships.
