MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested two suspected members of a terrorist group in Calabarzon, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac said Wednesday.
“May dalawang pinaghihinalaan na nahuli sa bahagi ng Calabarzon [There are two suspected terrorists caught in Calabarzon and this is a part of] at ito ay bahagi ng law enforcement operations. Patunay na maigting ang monitoring ng pinaghihinalaang indibdwal na nagkakanlaw ng kontrabando [This shows our seriousness in monitoring of suspicious individuals smuggling contraband ],” Banac told reporters in Camp Crame.
A report from Police Regional Office 4 identified the suspect as Bobby Sarip, who is an alleged member of Dawlah Islamiyah Lanao or Maute Group.
Police arrested Sarip on Nov. 1 in Barangay Real in Calamba City, Laguna after serving a search warrant.
Police seized MK2 fragmentation hand grenade, improvised explosive device, live ammunition and canister.
