MANILA, Philippines – A former municipal trial court judge was shot and killed by three assassins in his residence in Del Carmen, Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte on November 1, All Saints’ Day.

Police said Exequil Longos Dagala, 48, was sleeping on the second floor of his residence in Purok 6, Barangay Del Carmen when the gunmen forcibly entered his room and shot him at around 12:40 a.m.

He died on the spot, while his son was wounded.

The gunmen sped off aboard a commuter van with no license plates after the attack.

Dagala was a former municipal circuit trial court judge in Dapa-Soccoro,  Siargao Island.

Recovered from the crime scene were three empty shells, the victim’s .45 caliber pistol, ammunition, and two cellular phones. /gsg
