MANILA, Philippines — Tropical storm “Quiel” (international name: “Nakri”) may bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms in Metro Manila and other parts of the country on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said Wednesday morning.
The weather disturbance was last spotted 445 kilometers west southwest of Subic, Zambales and is moving east southeast at 10 kilometers per hour (kph), according to the 4 a.m. bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Quiel” is packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph, Pagasa said.
Other areas that may experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the tropical storm are Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, and Western Visayas.
The tropical storm is unlikely to make landfall, according to the agency.
The same weather may prevail over the Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley due to the tail-end of a cold front, Pagasa noted.
The rest of the country, meanwhile, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.
Pagasa said it is also monitoring a typhoon with international name “Halong” outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
It was last located 2,985 east of extreme northern Luzon and has maximum sustained winds of 215 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 265 kph.
The typhoon is moving north northwest at 10 kph and is not expected to enter PAR, said Pagasa.
