MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) hopes that Vice President Leni Robredo will “inject fresh and constructive insights” into the anti-illegal campaign of the government.
Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said he welcomes the move of President Rodrigo Duterte to designate Robredo as the co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).
“The DOJ is an active member of the ICAD and is the lead agency in the committee’s justice cluster,” Guevarra explained.
Under Robredo’s appointment paper, signed October 31, Robredo shall serve as co-chairperson of ICAD until June 30, 2022, “unless sooner revoked.”
Robredo’s designation came after Duterte offered Robredo to be his drug czar and “surrender” his power in enforcing the government’s war on drugs for six months.
