MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has pulled out members of its Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) from the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations.
NCRPO acting director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas said in a press briefing Tuesday that police officers from Metro Manila’s five police districts would replace the recalled personnel for better coordination and unity of command.
He said NCRPO districts should be those assigned to secure train stations, which have jurisdiction that falls under different cities in Metro Manila.
“Pag may nahuli, local [police] ang magpa-file ng case (The local police will be the one to file the case if they arrest someone),” he said.
Around 400 police officers from different districts will replace policemen from the RMFB, according to Sinas.
This means that MRT North Avenue to Santolan Stations will be manned by personnel from the Quezon City Police District; Ortigas to Boni Stations by the Eastern Police District; and Guadalupe to Taft Stations by the Southern Police District.
The same system applies to other LRT stations.
