MANILA, Philippines – Senator Sherwin Gatchalian prodded Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday to accept the challenge of leading the government’s war on drugs.
“I strongly suggest that VP Leni should accept the “drug czar challenge,” Gatchalian said in a Twitter post.
“It will be a good opportunity for her and her team to use their alternative strategies to eliminate illegal drugs in the country,” he added.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier dared Robredo to take over the drug war following her comments and criticism of the current administration’s brutal war on drugs.

Robredo, however, questioned Duterte’s offer for her to become the anti-drug czar.
“If there is no failure [of the drug war], why would they pass it to me? Because you are only going to hand over a project once you can no longer fulfill it. If it is successful, there is no need to pass it over, because you have already done it well,” media reports quoted Robredo as saying.
“But if you are going to pass it, isn’t that an admission that you still have a lot to do?” she added. /gsg
