MANILA, Philippines — An employee of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) was killed in an ambush in Malate, Manila on Monday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Helen Dacanay. She was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital, a DZMM report said.
Dacanay came from work and was with a companion when their vehicle was ambushed by two motorcycle-riding suspects along Malvar Street. Dacanay’s companion was unharmed.
The suspects immediately escaped. They are still unidentified as of posting time, according to police.
Authorities said the motive behind the attack against Dacanay is still unclear. A full investigation is underway, they added. /kga
