Man assaulted over affair with woman he didn’t know was married

SIBU, Malaysia — A 21-year-old shop assistant was assaulted by a group of men having an affair with a woman he thought was single.

The victim and the married woman was caught in a hotel room on Jalan Foochow by her husband at 10:56 pm on Thursday (Oct 31).

Two men who came along with the woman’s husband assaulted him, causing injuries to his body, face and chest.

The victim said he got acquainted with the 20-year-old woman, a supermarket cashier, on social media three months back.

He claimed he was not aware that the woman was married.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the case when contacted.

He said the two lovebirds had been called up for questioning.

“The victim claimed that the RM2,400 cash in his bag was snatched by the group of men in his hotel room,” he added.

ACP Stanley said the victim had failed to report the matter to the police as he was scared of being assaulted again by the men.

The case is being investigated under Section 395 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
