MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice (DOJ) will issue a comprehensive set of rules to deal with deportation cases appealed with the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
DOJ spokesperson Markk Perete on Friday said the new rules would be published next week and would take effect 15 days later.
Perete said an important provision was the strict adherence to Executive Order No. 292, or the Administrative Code of 1987, which provides that a deportation order issued by the BI board of commissioners becomes final and executory after 30 days unless reversed by the President or his alter ego, the DOJ secretary.
“This means they (aliens) really have to leave,” he told the reporters. —Jerome Aning
