MANILA, Philippines — Two members of teenage gang “Young Trouble Makers” tagged in the robbery incidents in Quezon City were arrested on Friday, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced on Saturday.

Tracker teams of QCPD-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit and Quezon City police station-6 arrested two 17-year-olds during All Saints’ Day at Bulacan Street, Barangay Payatas and at AFP Road in Barangay Holy Spirit.

Police said an orange tricycle with markings “Babe 27,” was suspected as the get-away vehicle used by minors during the robbery. It was identical to what was shown in the closed-circuit television footage.

QCPD chief Col. Ronnie Montejo said the teenagers also admitted to police that they were behind two robbery incidents namely: an Oct. 27 robbery incident in a convenience store at Project 8 and an Oct. 20 robbery in a restaurant in Luzon Avenue corner Capas Street, Barangay Holy Spirit.

FEATURED STORIES

On Oct. 29, police operatives received information that the children in conflict with the law (CICL) involved in the robbery incidents were spotted along Kapalaran Street near Veterans Village in Barangay Holy Spirit.

Lawmen went to the area and saw the minors, who sensed the authorities prompting them to go to different directions. The 15-year-old, however, allegedly pulled out his gun and fired at the lawmen.

Police retaliated, injuring the 15-year-old. The wounded minor was brought to the East Avenue Medical Center while his cohorts fled the scene.

Montejo said they are still looking for another gang member known as alias John Paul.

The QCPD chief also reminded parents to closely monitor their children, who may be involved in criminal activities.

“Parents are also liable in the civil aspect if their children would be guilty for violating the law,” Montejo said in Filipino. /jpv
