MM, other areas to experience cloudy skies, scattered rains due to 2 LPAs, ITCZ
MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies with a chance of rains are expected over Metro Manila and other parts of the country due to two low-pressure areas (LPAs), as well as an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), the state weather bureau said Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the LPAs and ITCZ may bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Pagasa said that an LPA embedded along the ITCZ was spotted 135 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.
Another LPA within the ITCZ was monitored at 185 kilometers west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Norte.
Both weather disturbances are not expected to intensify, Pagasa said.
The Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.”
