Police confiscate nearly 1k items banned inside Manila North Cemetery

MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 1,000 items deemed prohibited to bring inside the Manila North Cemetery were confiscated from people visiting the cemetery on Thursday.

According to police, 977 items that were not allowed inside the burial ground were seized as of 5 p.m.

Of the 977, about 700 were flammable items, such as lighters, matches, rubbing alcohol, and perfumes, among others.

A total of 245 packs of cigarettes were also confiscated by police.

Police also seized 28 bladed weapons, two gardening tools, a bottle of liquor and a set of playing cards.

Items prohibited inside the Manila North Cemetery include bladed materials, cigarette and lighter, e-cigarette or vape, flammable materials, firearms, illegal drugs, drones, gambling materials, perfumes and loud sound sytem.

Animals or pets are also not allowed inside the cemetery. /jpv
