Around 200 schoolchildren joined the Visayan Electric Company’s “Pasko sa Kabataan Year 2” last Dec. 17 at the Veco Banilad office.
Children from barangay Tinago, Cebu City, Cepoc Central School in Naga, Tayud Elementary School in Liloan, Leonard Wood Elementary School in Mandaue City and Vito Day Care Center in Minglanilla were treated to a day of fun by Veco kaibigans (employee volunteers) and scholars.
There were game booths. Ice cream stations, cotton candy, popcorn and balloon twisters were prepared for the beneficiaries aged 10 and below. The party was fancier this time with the presence of a magician, clowns and Jollibee mascots.
A man dressed in a Santa Claus outfit and Mrs. Claus then appeared and gave each kid a Christmas gift.
The annual event aims to make children feel the spirit of Christmas.
In a speech, Veco executive vice president and chief operating officer Jaime Jose Aboitiz said that he hoped to double the number of participants next year.
He also thanked the kaibigans and scholars for spending their time with the school pupils.
