MANILA, Philippines — Nearly 800,000 passengers have arrived at or departed from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) during the Undas season, the Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) reported.
Data gathered by INQUIRER.net showed that 799,850 passengers have traveled via Naia from October 25 to October 30, 2019.
Of this number, 378,791 passengers were flown to or from a domestic location while 421,659 traveled internationally.
The number of passengers that arrived at or departed from Naia on the days leading up to Undas this year is also higher than the passenger count during the same period last year.
In 2018, a total of 769,219 traveled through the country’s main gateway from October 25 to October 30.
As of 10:00 a.m., check-in counters at Naia Terminal 3, which is dubbed as the busiest terminal during the Undas season, remains relatively light.
A surge of passengers is expected during noontime, airport employees said.

Tighter security is also being implemented at the airport as new security equipment are installed, including x-ray machines and explosives trace detectors.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) likewise appealed for patience from passengers amid the expected influx of travelers one day before Undas.
Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente said inconveniences may be inevitable as flights carrying many passengers arrive or depart simultaneously at the airport. /je
