MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte paid tribute to former Philippine Presidents including his “idol,” the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, on the eve of Undas.
Duterte sent flowers to the tombs of Marcos and former Presidents Carlos Garcia, Diosdado Macapagal and Elpidio Quirino at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

Soldiers posted at the tombs said the wreaths from Duterte arrived Thursday morning.
Among the former presidents buried at the Presidents Section of the Heroes Cemetery, Marcos’ tomb had the most visitors.
Some of them stopped by to take selfies with the late dictator’s grave.
Marcos’ remains were interred at the Heroes Cemetery—home of the departed soldiers, national leaders, dignitaries and national artists — on Nov. 18, 2016 despite massive opposition.
Duterte supported the transfer of Marcos at the Heroes Cemetery as part of “national healing.”
Duterte also sent flowers to the graves of former Presidents Ramon Magsaysay, Sergio Osmeña, and Manuel Roxas, who were all buried at the Manila North Cemetery. /je
