MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police-Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) said Wednesday that it will deploy 695 personnel nationwide to ensure security in key areas during this year’s “Undas” season.
Specifically, PNP-HPG said 360 personnel will be deployed in cemeteries, 260 in bus terminals, 26 in train stations, 34 in seaports, and 15 in airports.
The unit will also field 2,062 volunteers or “force multipliers” to offer security and medical assistance for visitors in cemeteries and passengers in public transport terminals.
In a press conference in Camp Crame, PNP-HPG chief Brig. Gen. Dionardo Carlos said police officers are mandated to oversee traffic flow and provide safety for motorists.
“Ang effort natin [Our effort] is to keep the traffic flowing at the same time, keep the streets safe for motorists,” Carlos said.
Carlos said motorist assistance centers are established at airports, cemeteries and bus terminals to aid expected travelers to provinces for the holiday season. /je
