MANILA, Philippines – High-ranking officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) including officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa have inspected the provincial bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City, ahead of this year’s exodus due to All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
Gamboa was accompanied by PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac and National Capital Region Police Office acting director Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas in checking the safety measures at the Cubao ordinary bus terminal on Tuesday morning.
According to Gamboa, the PNP is well-prepared to handle any incident regarding the influx of people traveling back to their provinces.
“We are here at the Cubao bus station to check on the conditions of people and our security preparations for the holiday, and we assure the public that the PNP is prepared,” he told reporters.
“As a matter of fact the declaration of a full-alert status was just the beginning of our preparation for the security measures for the holidays until next Monday,” he added.
Many Filipinos travel back to their provinces every All Souls’ Day as a way of paying respects to their dead relatives. As of now, commuter volume at the Cubao bus terminals are still not high, although authorities expect the situation to peak by Thursday, October 31.
