MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized on Monday at least P3.5 million worth of pork and other meat products that were misdeclared as tomato paste.
But the BOC has yet to determine if the pork products that arrived at the Port of Manila from China on Oct. 12 are infected with African swine fever (ASF).
The Philippines has banned the imports of pork and other pork products from China as its hog industry was hit with ASF.
The seized shipment was consigned to Jeniti International Trading and was misdeclared as tomato paste and vermicelli. —Jovic Yee
