Did You Know: 153rd birth anniversary of Antonio Luna

Today, Oct. 29, is the 153rd birth anniversary of Antonio Luna, one of the generals who fought for Philippine independence.

Born in Binondo, Manila, he obtained his doctorate in pharmacy at the Universidad Central de Madrid.

While in Spain, he became part of the propaganda movement and wrote for La Solidaridad.

He later established the patriotic newspaper, La Independencia. Luna was killed on June 5, 1899. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
