Palace halts work in gov’t, classes in Metro Manila due to monsoon rains

LEGAZPI CITY — Classes in all levels were suspended on Monday in the cities of Tabaco, Ligao and the towns of Daraga, Libon, Pioduran, Camalig and Guinobatan due to moderate to heavy rains spawned by the northeast monsoon affecting specifically the first district of Albay.

The local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office in these areas has issued a bulletin advising all schools to suspend their classes as a precautionary disaster measure.

Cedric Daep, Albay Public Safety and Management Office chief, said the declaration of localized suspension of classes is a prerogative given to local chief executives in times of bad weather.
