ZAMBOANGA CITY, Zamboanga del Sur, Philippines — More than 2 kilograms of crystal meth, or “shabu,” were seized from five suspected drug couriers in a buy-bust operation here Sunday morning.
Darmalyn Jumlail, spokesperson of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Western Mindanao, said the seized illegal drug has an estimated market value of P13.8 million.
These were confiscated from the possession of Jumadatol B. Mohamod, Yacub S. Alih, Pae T. Kamsa, Warid Palahuddin, and Julim Salapuddin, according to Jumlail.
The five suspects were collared in a sting operation in front of a fast-food chain in San Jose Gusu around 10:40 a.m. Sunday.
Jumlail said the shabu was stored by the suspects in two sealed bags.
Apart from the shabu, operatives also seized five cellular phones and a jeepney.
Authorities subjected the suspects to further questioning to determine the source of the drugs and the other personalities behind the transport of these.
