Duterte asked to replace SRA chief
An industry group has called on President Duterte to replace the current head of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) for the latter’s soft stance on the government’s proposal to liberalize sugar.
The United Sugar Producers Federation of the Philippines released a board resolution on Thursday requesting Mr. Duterte to fire SRA administrator Hermenegildo Serafica after the official refused to take a stand when Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri said agencies should release a strong statement against the policy proposal.
“SRA administrator Serafica no longer serves the sugar industry due to his no response on the sugar liberalization issue,” the group said.—Karl R. Ocampo
