LUCENA CITY—Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, along with local officials, formally inaugurated on Wednesday the 419-meter underpass here, the first in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) region.
The construction of the P230-million underpass along the Maharlika Highway diversion road in the outskirts of the city started in 2017.
The underpass is expected to ease the heavy flow of motorists from Manila to Bicol and vice versa at the intersection of the diversion road and the Lucena-Tayabas Road at Barangay Gulang-Gulang here.
It starts after the Dumacaa Bridge and ends before the approach of the Iyam Bridge. —DELFIN MALLARI JR.
