MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-seven officials under the Philippine National Police – Civil Security Group (PNP-CSG) were relieved from their posts amid reports of corruption within the police unit.
Maj. Gen. Roberto Fajardo, CSG director, said those affected by the relief order were officers from the Firearms and Explosives Office and the Supervisory Office on Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA).
“If the senior officers cannot stop the corruption in FEO, SOSIA and CSG, maybe the junior officers who will replace can deliver,” he said in a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
He said the move is considered the biggest revamp in the history of CSG. He added that the performance of officers who replaced the relieved officials would be evaluated after two or three months since their assignment.
Incidentally, the revamp in the CSG followed days after the massive reshuffling in positions in the national headquarters and regional offices of the PNP initiated by Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa, officer-in-charge of the police force.
Fajardo said he is determined to rid the CSG of errant personnel. He encouraged the public to report corruption involving police officers belonging to the unit.
Further, he said that he has ordered faster processing of permits and licenses being secured by business owners from the FEO and SOSIA, which preferably would now take three days.
