SAN PEDRO CITY –– A wanted man was killed in a shootout in Calamba City in Laguna province on Friday.
Police identified the suspect as Mark Anthony Mendoza, who reportedly faced charges for illegal drugs, theft, and robbery.
A Laguna police report said policemen were about to serve an arrest warrant against Mendoza around 2:35 a.m. in Barangay Real.
Mendoza allegedly refused to surrender and opened fire to hit police Staff Sgt. Ronald Sueto.
Sueto and his back-up team returned fire and killed the suspect instantly.
