DOH expands polio vaccine campaign to Mindanao

/ 05:21 AM October 25, 2019

On World Polio Day on Thursday, the Department of Health (DOH) said it was expanding its “Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio” campaign to Mindanao from Nov. 25 to Jan. 6, 2020.  Children from 0-59 months will be given the polio vaccine in identified priority areas. For areas not covered by the campaign, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III appealed to all mothers and caregivers to bring their children to the nearest health centers to complete their polio and other routine vaccinations. World Polio Day was established by Rotary International over a decade ago to commemorate the birth of Jonas Salk, who led the first team to develop a polio vaccine. —Tina G. Santos
