MANILA, Philippines – After the first transportation cooperatives congress in Davao City last March 2019, the Office of Transportation Cooperatives (OTC) conducted the Visayas Transportation Cooperatives Congress in Iloilo on October 21 and 22, 2019.
With the theme “Road to Recovery, Innovating Transport for Livable Community”, this transportation cooperatives congress was a response to the urgency to modernize the public transportation in line with the implementation of Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
The transportation cooperatives congress envisions the transport cooperatives to have collective position and action plan for the implementation of PUVMP and to establish and strengthen networks within the region.
The event was supported by Department of Transportation (DOTr), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP), and Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP).
OTC is an attached agency of DOTr which is founded in 1983. It manages the promotion, organization, registration, and supervision of the transportation cooperatives nationwide pursuant to Executive Order No. 898.
