LOOK: ‘Monsters,’ ‘corpses,’ ‘skeletons’ inside DOJ

LOOK: Spooky offices inside DOJMANILA, Philippines – If being summoned by a prosecutor is not scary enough, at this time of the year, you will be greeted by monsters, corpses, skeletons and ghouls along the hallway of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) inside the Department of Justice (DOJ).

For the past three days, the staff of the DOJ-NPS went “full blast” in putting up decorations in the workplaces of the state prosecutors and its hallway.

One of the staff said they have been doing the annual trick-or-treat for past seven years.

This time, however, they have decided to give their best in putting up decorations for “sentimental reasons” – they will be moving to a new building by next month after over three decades.

The whole stretch of the hallway has been embellished with cobwebs, big spiders, a coffin with a skeleton inside, a witch, a ghoul inside a cage, and pictures of Chucky the Doll and greetings of “Happy Halloween” and “Trick or Treat” on their office doors. They have also covered boxes with white bond paper and designed them as tombs.

The NPS staff said the DOJ leadership has allowed them to use their “creative side” and from time to time break free from the daily grind of preliminary investigation hearings and inquests.

It also of no cost to the DOJ since their decorations were recycled from previous years, things they already have in their homes and unused materials that they pick up such as the driftwood that they would use to transform into another scary piece.

But a prosecutor said if one prefers the real “thing” instead of the decorations, they can come back in the evening when the lights are already out./ac
