Metro Manila police ready for June 6 school opening
MANILA, Philippines – The National Capital Region Police (NCRPO) is ready for the opening of classes on Monday, June 6, said Police Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima Friday.
“It is this time of the year once again that millions of students from primary to tertiary levels will go back to school so expect that unscrupulous elements will also thrive and take advantage of the situation. We want to assure the public that the NCRPO has already prepared all the needed measures to ensure the smooth and sound opening of classes in the Metro Manila,” Purisima said.
In coordination with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the NCRPO will deploy at least 2,445 policemen to ensure safety of students in about 1,600 schools, bus and jeepney terminals, Purisima said.
“Ensuring the safety and security of everybody at times like this is such a big responsibility. But we believe that with unity and cooperation of all stakeholders, we will achieve a common goal,” said Purisima.
NCRPO will also be deploying Motorized Anti-Street Crime Operatives (Masco) and police mobile patrols and bus marshals on public utility vehicles (PUVs), he said.
Traffic enforcers will be visible to oversee the smooth flow of traffic, he added.
