MANILA, Philippines — Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III became emotional when he remembered his father during the necrological rites for the late senator on Wednesday.
After thanking those who attended the service and shared “kind words” for his late father, Koko was brought to tears as he gripped with the idea of “saying goodbye permanently to someone as special as Tatay.”
“These past few days we have seen the outpouring of love to Tatay Nene, from the text messages we have received, the many articles written about him, the tributes aired by the TV stations, the resolution which have been passed by various organizations the eulogies which have been delivered especially those delivered this morning as well as stories,” Pimentel said.
“So we, his children and grandchildren are very happy to know that our father and grandfather has touched and affected so many lives, we are proud that so many consider themselves adopted sons and daughters of our Tatay Nene,” he added.
He then turned emotional as he went on with his message.
“Saying goodbye permanently to someone as special as Tatay someone you admire and love…” he said as he broke down in tears.
“This is actually a sad event…we don’t want this to happen, it will happen and it has happened, that is life…Your life is God’s gift to you, how you live your life is your gift to God,” he added. /jpv
