MANILA, Philippines – A foreigner, identified as a British national, was detained in Cebu after a vehicular accident that resulted in the death of a woman on the evening of Christmas day, a spokesman for the Philippine National Police said Tuesday.

Richard Horton was driving in his Kia Sorento (YDL-507) along the provincial road, Sitio (sub-village) Cadre, Poblacion, Medellin, Cebu, when he hit Cherry Godinez Noynay who was walking on the side of the road, said Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz in a text advisory.

The incident happened around 5:40 p.m. of Sunday. Noynay was brought to the hospital where she was declared dead on arrival, Cruz said.

Horton was detained at the Medellin police station for proper disposition, Cruz said.
