Did You Know: Climate Change Commission created in 2009

Republic Act No. 9729 or the Climate Change Act of 2009 was approved, leading to the creation of the Climate Change Commission on Oct. 23, 2009.

The commission, an independent and autonomous body with the same status as that of a national government agency, is in charge of coordinating, monitoring and evaluating programs of the government on climate change.

It is under the Office of the President, who serves as the chair and has the power to appoint three commissioners.
