LEGAZPI CITY—The new chief of the Bicol police put rogue cops on his crosshair saying the image of the Philippine National Police (PNP) had been destroyed by these wayward police elements.
In an address to his subordinates on Tuesday, Oct. 22, Brig Gen. Anthony Alcaneses said an internal cleansing of the PNP was among the orders of acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa.
Being assigned to Bicol, he said, was “challenging”. He said, however, that the cooperation of his men makes him feel confident he would succeed.
Aside from cleansing the force of rogue elements, Alcaneses also said he would continue the war on drugs, crimes and insurgency though “we will do so with the utmost respect for human rights.”
Alcaneses replaced Brig Gen Arnel Escobal, who would be assigned as chief of the Aviation Security Group. Mar S. Arguelles/TSB
