More barangays, health centers in Makati to get free Wi-Fi zones
MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-seven barangays and health centers in Makati City will have free Wi-Fi zones with the help of telecommunications firm Globe Telecom.
On Tuesday, Makati government’s Neo-Converge ICT Solutions Inc., signed a memorandum of agreement with the telco company to provide free Wi-Fi service to more barangays and health centers in Makati City within the year.
Globe president Ernest Cu said the telco firm is also planning to provide fifth-generation (5G) internet in Makati City, which offers better internet speed and less lag time.
“As we move forward, the mayor mentioned 5G. Fiber will be important, I have the feeling that this city is going to be the first 5G enabled areas that Globe will be doing. We are making plans right now, of course with cooperative local government,” Cu said in his speech at Makati City Hall.
Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said as the city embraces technology, Makatizens must observe responsible use of the internet.
