MANILA, Philippines — A 54-year-old man who had been released from prison was again arrested on Monday evening for alleged drug peddling in Pasay City.

Pasay police chief Col. Bernard Yang said Fernando Santiano, alias Pando, was apprehended by elements of Drug Enforcement Unit led by Capt. Deni Mari Pedrozo during a buy-bust operation along Estrella Street in Barangay 14 at 7 p.m.

The arrest came after an undercover policeman bought four sachets of shabu (crystal meth) from Santiano.

Seized from the drug suspect were 18 grams of shabu worth P122,400 and marked money worth P200.

Yang said Santiano, who was convicted for drug charges, was freed from jail in September this year.

Santiano is also known as a notorious drug dealer to residents of Barangay 14, Yang said.

Santiano is currently detained at Pasay police station while a case for violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being prepared against him at the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office. /je
