Cops arrest man who beat up, killed wife in Camiguin town

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY—Police arrested a 30-year-old man in Camiguin for allegedly beating up his wife leading to her death on Saturday, Oct. 19.

On Monday, Oct. 21, police said Ryan Palin, of Catarman town, Camiguin, faces a parricide case.

Ryan had been accused of beating up his wife, Jen, 29, who was found unconscious on the floor of the couple’s house with multiple injuries consistent with battery.

Jen was brought to the Catarman District Hospital on Sunday, Oct. 20, but she was dead already.

The cruelty of the assault on Jen could best be desribed by a police report. Jen, the report said, suffered “swelling and hematoma, both in the upper and lower lips and abrasion in the right zygomatic area.” Zygomatic is the bony arch of the cheek.

Ryan fled the house after beating up his wife but Jen’s father, Joshue Banaag, 50, reported his daughter’s death to police.

Investigators said Joshue and an aunt saw Ryan assaulting Jen around 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Col. Rolando Cuya Jr., Catarman police chief, said Ryan also choked his wife to death. Cuya said Ryan was arrested at the village of Tablon, Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday.
